Climate

The climate in Madrid is generally characterized as having hot summers and cold winters. During the summer months, mainly July and August, the average temperature is around 33ºC (91.5ºF), but can reach closer to 40ºC (104ºF) during the hottest times of the day. However, the low humidity makes the heat somewhat more bearable. The temperature during the winter months is much colder, ranging from 12ºC (53ºF) during the day and right around freezing point at night. Snow, however, is still not very common in the city. Even though it can get cold, usually you can enjoy crisp, sunny skies. Madrid, like much of Spain, generally has a very dry climate, with a yearly average rainfall of only about 18 inches.
